Genesis GV80 vs. Porsche Cayenne
How does the 2021 Genesis GV80, an all-new model, compare to other midsize luxury crossover SUVs in its class? One word comes to mind: favorably. Let’s see how it stacks up against the 2021 Porsche Cayenne, for example.
Head to Head: GV80 and Cayenne
Design
Both the Cayenne and the GV80 offer a variety of design and luxury features. In terms of value, however, which model offers these features as standard and which requires an additional upgrade?
While the Cayenne only makes the hands-free liftgate, power driver and passenger seats, and heated front seats available in certain trims, the GV80 makes these standard in all available trims. Other features such as Remote-Engine Start are simply not an option with the Cayenne.
For larger or growing families, the decision is easy. The Cayenne can hold up to four passengers while certain models of the GV80 can transport up to five. Even without an additional passenger, this available seat can make transporting groceries, gear, or equipment much easier.
Performance
While there is a discrepancy in available horsepower between these two models, the difference is not drastic enough to make this a deciding factor for most.
The Cayenne boasts a more powerful base engine with the 3.0L Intercooled Turbo Premium V6. The GV80 comes standard with a 2.5L Intercooled Turbo Premium I-4, but you can upgrade to a 3.5L V6.
While the GV80 delivers 35 horsepower less than the Cayenne, it has a better fuel economy with an estimated 23 combined mpg, as well as a much lower emissions rating. Considering both models offer the horsepower you need, the GV80 will save you more in gas money and will significantly lessen your impact on the environment.
Safety and Tech
The Cayenne and the GV80 are packed with driver-assistance features to help keep you and your loved ones safe. Once again, however, many of the standard features in the GV80 are only available in certain trims of the Cayenne.
The driver-assistance features that come standard in all available trims of the GV80 include:
- Blind Spot Monitor
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Lane Departure Warning
- Adaptive Cruise Control
A number of convenience features such as the Rear Parking Aid and Automatic Parking also come standard in the GV80, making it the most fully equipped base trim of the two models.
