Luxury Crossover SUV Comparison: Genesis GV80 vs. Lexus RX
Genesis just released its first luxury crossover SUV, and it’s making the competition nervous. Continue reading to see how the GV80 stacks up against one of the veterans of the midsize SUV segment.
Genesis GV80 vs. Lexus RX
Design
Arguably one of the first crossover SUVs in its class, the Lexus RX is beginning to look a bit dated next to the newly designed GV80. The new Genesis GV80 brings a fresh new look with available leather seating, second-row heated, ventilated and power reclining seats, and a clean, minimalistic profile.
Both models are ideal for five passengers but offer third-row options to accommodate two additional friends or family members.
Performance
The base trim of the Genesis GV80 is powered by a 300-horsepower 2.5L turbo I4 engine, while the Lexus starts with a 295-horsepower 3.5L V6. The Genesis comes standard with rear-wheel drive, and the Lexus comes with front-wheel drive. If you’re looking for an all-season vehicle, the option to upgrade to all-wheel drive is available in both models. The GV80 does offer a slightly better fuel economy at an estimated 23 mpg combined.
Safety and Tech
Both models are designed to keep you and your passengers safe. The GV80 stepped it up a notch and was awarded a 2021 Top Safety Pick+ rating. Among the available Drive-Assistance features, both cars come fully equipped with safety features to help you navigate rush-hour traffic with ease, including:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Brake Assist
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Lane Departure Warning
